At Animal Travel we believe exploring Puerto Madryn not only means immersing yourself in it’s incredible scenery but also discover the culinary spots that enhance the local experience. Recently we visited 3 places with unique charm: Casa Hulpe, Justo Cafe and Brava Cafe. We wanted to share with you our impression of each one of them:
Brava Cafe Mar
Located 3km from the city, at Julio Verne 3782, Brava Cafe Mar is the perfect place for those looking for an unmatched view of the sea while enjoying good coffee. Open from tuesdays to sundays, this cafe offers spacious indoor and outdoor areas, creating the ideal enviroment for relaxation and a connection with nature. One of it’s biggest attractions is their own coffee blend, specially crafted for their café, which makes it an authentic choice for coffee lovers.
Their menu includes a wide variety of artisan pastries, brunches, and other options to share during breakfast or “meriendas” (afternoon snacks). Brava Cafe is also known for their gluten-free options, like toasts, mini-cakes, truffles and alfajores, offering a selection of both inclusive and delicious food.
Their natural and relaxed atmosphere is also complimented by their open space with floor-to-ceiling windows, from where we can appreciate one of the best views of the gulf. Besides, their staff are attentive and friendly, making the experience both comfy and memorable.
Justo Café
Located in the heart of the city, at Belgrano 323, Justo cafe offers a different experience, with minimalist style and aesthetic atmosphere created by modern lighting that gives a cozy vibe. Open from monday to saturday from 9a.m to 9p.m, and sundays from 4.30p.m to 8.30 p.m, is an excellent choice for any moment of the day.
During our visit, we tried their recommended brunch “La Ultima Boconada”, which included two hot drinks, a pitcher of lemonade, a plate of seasonal fruits, avocado toast with scrambled eggs, two crustless sandwiches, and a slice of “cake of the day” (for us it was Carrot Cake). It was an ideal choice to share, both in flavor and quantity. Although as of now they do not offer gluten-free options, their Wi-Fi is great which makes it the perfect place for those who want to work in calm sorroundings.
The costumer service was excellent and service was quick and effective, exactly what makes Justo Cafe a place we will definitely return to.
Casa Hulpe
Located on the busy “Avenida Roca” 681, Casa Hulpe is more than just a cafe: it is a place that mixes culture, gastronomy and art. We consider them a unique place that not only offers a great selection of infusions, pies, cakes and alfajores, but also has celiac options and vegetarian options, acommodating many dietary preferences.
Casa Hulpe stands out specially for their impressive library, that invites visitors to enjoy themselves and immerse in a good book while in a comfy enviroment. Also, their art room for children is a special little retreat that allows children to express and explore their creativity while adults get to have a moment to relax.
One detail we specially liked is that Casa Hulpe has their crockery and books for sale, which allows customers to take home a piece of this unique space. With fast and free Wi-Fi the place is also ideal for working and studying in an inspiring enviroment. Besides, their outside patio is the perfect spot to enjoy good weather, also being pet-friendly for those who enjoy coffee with their furry friends!
Each of these places has left us eager to return and explore more. Combination of good food, excellent atmosphere and warm customer service makes these cafés worth visiting and, for us, must-visit spots in Puerto Madryn.
